17. The US celebrates Hot Buttered Rum Day today! Have you ever tried it?

I’m an alcoholic, so yes been there and sure don’t want the t-shirt. It’s a very tasty drink but I’ve been sober for 40 years. Which is great news.

I made Baileys Irish Cream chocolate chip cookies and mudslide double chocolate chip cookies for Christmas. I tried one of each and they didn’t taste like the liqueur. Someone said when you bake alcohol it bakes out. I couldn’t tell.

What is your favorite drink? Mine was Sloe Gin Fizz for years until I discovered Peach Bellini. To this day I order a virgin peach Bellini. It’s so good. Who needs the stinking booze. 😁

I believe you're right about baking with alcohol - it does disappear in the process.

Sis (the Cook of the House) agrees with you, she uses quite a lot of red wine in her cooking.

I've never had hot buttered rum. However, Buttered Rym is my favorite flavor of Brach's taffy and I love Buttered Rum syrup on Buttered Pecan ice cream.

Favorite drink: Amaretto in Orange juice.

Wine gives a migraine. Beer makes me purge... I think it's my body's defense and punishment for drinking a 40 in 20 minutes when I was young.

Hot buttered rum can be too buttery, so you really need to hit the balance, and then drink it while it's still hot.

I'm basically an Old Fashioned drinker in the winter, and a G&T drinker in the summer, though.

There's so many good mocktails now. It's really nice to have choices beyond: here's crushed ice and sugar and we've died it pink!
