57. Name one song that means a lot to you. What does it remind you of? What does it mean to you? Why is it important to you?

The song is called Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum. It's a wonderful song about when you die and where you go. Both hubby and I chose this for our goodbye music. I didn't want anything depressing. Everyone will smile when they hear it.

A very upbeat song.

*Hangs head* OKAY, before I reveal mine, know that I listen to all kinds of music from every era. I appreciate the of music.

However, the song that I hold close to my heart is 'Don't Try Suicide' by Queen. I was a depressed child and had been attempting to end it since I was 7. There was a few times the I nearly succeeded. When I was 15 and I found out that my sister was pregnant... I was ready to end it all, because I knew I would raise the baby. (And I did with all my live.) However, I secretly grabbed a gun and put it to my temple when that song came on.

I knew it was a sign. I put my dad's gun back and had a nice long cry. I really wasn't ready to be a mom, but no one ever is the first time.

Sorry if I depressed you.

It is a nicely 'groovy' song.

I have several thoughts about what I'd like for that grand occasion :D and I quite fancy Daybreak by Barry Manilow. Several reasons - while Barry's not my musical thing these days, he was a major part of my teens. And the song is hopeful and cheerful. And I kinda get a kick imagining my family rolling their eyes - going out to Barry Manilow? Really?

May the need for our choice of songs be a long way away for all of us. :-)

I used to love Barry Manilow. That's a great song. I already know our kids will roll their eyes. But hopefully it will make them smile. And I too hope we won't need the songs for many, many years.

I love it for a celebration of life. It's a great song. It makes me smile every time I hear it.
