My friend Beverly.

I have a great friend named Beverly. She is 89 years old. 8 weeks ago she fell and fractured her pelvis. She’s been in a rehab since she got out of hospital. This rehab is a terrible place. It's a glorified nursing home. She lives with her daughter Vicki and is having a countdown to when she gets out. I'm going to stay with her three days a week while Vicki works. I just love Beverly, so, I don't mind at all. She's been in. A wheelchair since this happened and I told her the doctor said there is no reason for her to be in a wheelchair. I've got lots of work to do so she'll be in shape again. I know she's depressed. Believe me that place is so depressing. I went to see her every day since this happened. She would light up when I got there. Thankfully she has another friend that comes every day also. In the summertime we swim three days a week. Does anyone have suggestions for me to get her more motivated? Anything would be helpful. I need to get her out of the funk she's in. She gets to go home tomorrow. Oh she’ll have PT right away at home. Three times a week. Thanks to anyone reading while I rambled.

My mom was in the same depressed state when she was forced to stay in a rehabilitation home for 7 weeks after a mini-stroke - she's 90! She was a LOT better once she was back in her own home so give it a little time :)

My mom is tired and has very little motivation, which is why I'm happy she's agreed to PT finally. All to say I don't really have any suggestions, unless promising outings or reminding her of swimming might do the trick.

We're going to play cards and just sit outside. The weather has been beautiful. We love to watch the birds.
