Our bug guy came for the yearly checkup for termites and came in and said, "I have bad news."

I of course said, "Termites, no doubt, right?"

He then said, "No, you're free of termites but you have Africanized KIller Bees."

He then informed me that we needed to get that taken care of as soon as possible before they swarmed someone and killed them. The damn bees are drawn to dark colors and loud noises. He just described me. LOL So anyhow, they got someone out that day to rid our home of the bees, but not before we spent 900 bucks. Do you believe it? I watched from inside the house as this guy cut a hole in our roof, dug the hive and honey out and got swarmed like crazy. Then he had to repair our roof and put the tiles back on the top of the house. When the guy came down the ladder, he was covered in bees. They weren't happy with him at all. He said they had been there ten days and showed me the size of the hive and the honey made already. It amazes me that he could tell. But this is what they do for a living. We're just really grateful that Sam wasn't attacked by them after school. She's loud and could have drawn attention to herself.

Is my life exciting, or what?

What did you all do for the weekend?

Hugs, Patt

We've been with the company for 22 years, so we trust them. And believe me, they looked nothing like honey bees. And they are very aggressive unlike honey bees. I like regular bees. I didn't like these ones.

I'm glad no one was hurt. Those bees are killer bees for a reason.

They are so aggressive and not like honey bees at all. I'm also glad that they didn't attack Sam every day before and after school. Scary thought. :)

That's honestly terrifying. Thank goodness you found out and could get them removed before anyone got hurt.

I hope he did something to prevent them getting back in! And that he didn't just throw away the honey. That would be a real waste!

They have to spray first and that ruins the honey. He did say the honey is the best tasting honey ever. And they are coming out to seal our house off. Every nook and cranny will be filled in so no bees can ever get in again.

Have I ever mentioned that bees and wasp are my greatest fear!!!!!?!!! I would have to buy a new house to live in if there were killer bees in mine.
You are Very blessed that they didn't go after Sam or anyone. I have seen the documentaries of people and pets being swarmed and they give me nightmares!!!!!!
I do wonder if their honey tastes different? I Don't want to get close enough to find out!!

Supposedly the honey is the best around. But we'll never know because they had to spray the honey while spraying the bees. Works for me. I'm so happy they are gone. And MOnday the company is coming out to seal up any openings on the outside so that they couldn't get in again. Woot! I'm very grateful that Sam wasn't hurt or the dogs for that matter. All of our neighbors were freaked out too. So glad no one was stung or swarmed.

I'm glad that you got rid of those. Wasps are bad enough over here.

We're very grateful that no one was hurt. These are not like normal bees believe me. They make wasps seem like nothing. We're very lucky. Speaking of wasps, one ran into my car while at a friends house. He must have gotten angry from the color of the car. He kept dive bombing the windshield and I was laughing my ass off. He was stunned more than once. LOL Didn't bother Tony at all. :)

Oh dear. I'm glad you were able to get rid of them before anyone was hurt. Ouch over the price though.
