I went to a painting class in Texas.

You know what I found out? My granddaughter has talent up the ying-yang, but me, mine was horrible. And to give you all a good laugh I'm going to put the cell phone pic under the cut. It's supposed to be a summer night, with firefly's. There is a jar, with a lid and it looks to be like a demon type center inside the jar. LOL LMBO My gosh, I was laughing so hard. At least now I know that I'm not good at that and can move on. *grin* There were four of us and my daughter said part of the reason I was sucking was because I don't drink. She and Lisa were drinking wine the entire time. Alexa, my granddaughter, and I were so serious. We didn't even talk to each other during the two hour class. But hers was really good. For a good laugh click on the link. And by the way, my son gets his artistic talent from my brothers. LOL LMBO

Absolutely the only thing I'd criticise is the spacing of the fireflies, and that's a very minor point. As a whole, it's definitely better than anything I could do! Well done! And I'd agree with Scherwood - I've seen stuff done by final year students at a school of art that wasn't as good as this.

When I was at school... we had a maths teacher who totally sucked. He was an honours grad in the subject, but he found it so easy that it didn't occur to him that we needed more than one fast run-through of 'how you do this' for us to remember. When I was 14, I got 13 out of 100 at our final exam for the year, and I was third in the class (there were certainly 40 of us in the class, possibly 45). My cousin, in the same class, got 10. As I remember, he was fifth. When we took our marks home we both said "Top mark was 20 and if you don't believe me ask my cousin!"

It must have been utterly frustrating for Mr Shiach but he never learned that almost nobody was as gifted at working with numbers as he was. I only got the mark I did because I memorised what to do and did it without in the least understanding what I was doing or why I was doing it.

I really love it - it's bright and pretty, and instantly easy to see what it is - and we don't even get fireflies here, so it must be good! I reckon if you enjoyed doing it you ought to carry on - it's lovely to express yourself creatively in ways other than the ones you're naturally good at! Go you \o/
