Has anyone ever been to Fayetteville, Arkansas?

Our middle child and her hubby are thinking about retiring there and would love for us to retire closeby. I've been reading up on things and it sounds like a super nice place to live, not too hot, not too cold, just right. Not so dry and quite a bit of humidity, which would be a welcome change after the dryness here. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we're thinking about it. In fact, I was looking at houses tonight and saw one that I could easily live in and love it. LOL LMBO It won't be there when the time comes for us to retire, but still it gave me an idea of how much houses are and what they look like. This is the link for the house. I love it. I think the 110 degree days are starting to drain Rodney. So, if anyone has anything to say about Arkansas, please tell me. WE've got three years to plan for this. Our son-in-law gets to retire early. I hope our grand-daughter, Alexa moves there too, so we'll see her a lot.

Being in England, nope, no knowledge at all *g* but wow, what a great house! I'd love to live there too - and the price! I'm in the wrong country :D

It sounds like a lovely place to live though - good luck with it if you do decide to move. It's always a wrench, but so exciting too!

We've got three years to plan for it, so I'm not going to worry now. But I've found some really nice homes in the 130-150 range, also. Some of them are just fantastic. I love the area. And the climate is so mild. Not scorching hot in the summer or freezing in the winter. My kind of place. Now that I've decided it would be a great place I hope Brett doesn't decide to go somewhere cold instead.

I know nothing about Arkansas other than it's super conservative, but then so is KY. Maybe Fayetteville is a pocket of sunshine.

It certainly looks like a nice house and I'm sure Arkansas has a lot nicer weather than Arizona. The one drawback might be yard work if you're not used to it, but I'm sure you can find someone to do that for you.

It's a big move, but it would be an adventure!

Patt, I think I've driven through there, maybe even stayed once a couple years ago on my way south from Ontario. I checked the map and it looks like it's not far from Branson, which is a fun place to go if you like country music. The Ozark hills are gorgeous in the fall with the spectacular colours.

It is tornado country, though. And have you ever lived in a place with relatively high humidity in the summer? I'll take a dry climate anytime, but then the dry is better for my arthritis and I can't stand high humidity (which though the temp is lower than the desert, feels as hot or hotter and can be as or more ennervating with a constant aticky glaze of sweat). Air conditioning definitely helps, though.

Politically, I don't think it's more conservative than Arizona, but the state is much poorer. I don't know what the state rep is for health care or education.

Gorgeous house, though and yes, money would go farther there, for sure.

I grew up in Iowa, so am familar with tornado country. But I looked it up and they don't have them much at all. 1951 was the last bad one. And even then it wasn't bad. The humidity is what's stopping me. I'm used to it being dry and it's about 65%. On our worst days it's not that high. Something to think about. But we have three years to consider it for an option or not. By then, I might have another place chosen. LOL LMBO

I'm surprised by no tornadoes because they sure strike everywhere nearby, like Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, etc but it's great if they don't hit Arkansas!

Arkansas has Lots of tornados! They just had several deaths due to them. Not to scare you. You can be hit by lighting in Florida and Earthquakes in California, or flooding just about anywhere (except around my place)
But it is also one of the most beautiful states around,,, next to Texas! But the temps would sure beat 110 in Arizona!!
If it were me the deciding factor would be living close to family. They make everything worth while.

Hearing things about it makes me not want to move. LOL I hate tornados. I grew up with them in Iowa and don't miss them at all. And I don't miss the humidity at all, either. We talked today and said that it sounds like it's a better place to visit, than live. LOL
