Jan. 27th, 2026 02:23 pm27. Up-Helly-Aa is a vibrant fire festival celebrated in the UK Shetland Islands tonight. Thousands gather to witness the breathtaking sight of a longship ablaze, illuminating the night sky. Do you have any similar local winter or summer celebrations?
You know, after reading this, I don't have anything to compare to it. But right now, we are having peaceful protests in hopes that Trump won't have more american's murdered. I'll have to look into festivals. We do have Tucson Winterhaven Festival of Lights | December
Each year, during the holiday season, the Winterhaven neighborhood puts on spectacular displays for their Festival of Lights. The neighborhood residents decorate for the season with themes ranging from traditional Christmas lights to celebrations of Hanukkah, and everything in between. The event is free to attend, but donations for the Community Food Bank are encouraged. Visitors can walk through the neighborhood or take a tour from one of the trolley and hayride vendors. It's a big thing here.
ZooLights: Holiday Magic | December
Thousands of enchanting lights welcome you to the Reid Park Zoo during their ZooLights event showcasing festive displays and light shows. Stop by and say hello to Santa who will meet kids of all ages each evening through December 23. Make your way to the Arctic Zone for falling snow, sing along to festive music, and savor a hot cup of cocoa from the Zoo Café as you take in the winter wonderland in this Tucson holiday tradition.
The Tucson Folk Festival – and so Much More
Concerts, Community Events, & Workshops All Year Long
One of the country’s largest free music festivals, the Tucson Folk Festival celebrates folk, roots, and acoustic music every spring in Downtown Tucson. But that’s just one part of what we do. All year long, the Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association (TKMA) hosts concerts, workshops, fundraisers, and community events — celebrating diverse musical traditions, supporting artists, and building a welcoming, music-driven community.
There are quite a few different ones, but I think this is enough.

In your own space, create a promo and/or rec list for someone new to a fandom. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it and include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Trying to convince our friends and loved ones to join our fandom is a frequent activity for many of us. It's great to have someone to talk to and obsess with! This is your chance to try to entice people into your fandom or to gently introduce new fans to your favorite parts of it.
Maybe you'd like to write a manifesto on your favorite ship. Maybe you'd like to write a breakdown of the many characters that appear in a long running franchise. Maybe you'd like to rec the fics you think everyone in your fandom should read. The possibilities are endless!
