24. Have you ever knitted a garment or had one knitted for you?

When I was 16, my aunt taught me to knit and then taught me to make baby booties. I made 4 pairs. They were so cute. I had a wonderful time with my aunt and she was impressed that I learned it so quickly. Now for the funny part, I never knitted another thing. It was nice that day but it wasn't my thing. Two years later she taught me how to crochet blankets. She gave me tons of yarn, and I used it all to make blankets. I found out I didn't care for that either. I'm just not artistic. But my aunt loved the blankets I made for her. And I loved spending time with her. She's also the one who taught me how to play pinochle. Now that was hard. Too many rules.

I used to watch my mother and aunt knit and crochet in a amazement. Little bears, hats and scarfs magically appear from metal sticks like magic.

Sadly, I could never do it. My eldest knits.

I have always been better with a needle and thread or a flame and ingredients.

I used to have a lot of partially knitted things. I did clear those out when we moved house, but knitting isn't really my thing.

Now for the funny part, I never knitted another thing.

Oh my gosh, me too. My grandmother used to knit us a new pair of mittens every winter, and I learned long enough to knit one pair. Although I had fun that one time, I never knitted anything else. (My grandmother also taught us to quilt, and it went similarly.)

It's a nice reminder to me that things don't have to last forever to be meaningful.
