I think the same! Except my no. 1 would be the soap Neighbours, which sadly came to an end after 40 years in December 2025. Such a very silly, funny show that got a lot of people through their day.

I’ve never seen it. I’ll have to look and see if I can find it.

It was only shown in Australia and the UK for decades, then it was cancelled in 2022. Then picked up by Amazon in 2023 and shown in the USA, only for Jeff Bezos to cancel it again.

However, many of the past episodes are on Amazon! So you could watch them there and see what you think. It is silly, warmhearted and nostalgic as it focuses on Ramsay Street, a fictional neighbourhood in Australia where everyone is friends with everyone. Very comforting, but full of insane events like stalkers, explosions, long lost relatives, evil twins, amnesia etc.

Yes! I love it so much. There's been a sequel in the works but I haven't heard any updates on it lately.

I won't answer this (for obvious reasons), except to say:

1. Australia Day is problematic because of the date it's celebrated on. Its alternative name is Invasion Day.

2. I get kangaroos in my street sometimes. There's a mob of them living in the big reserve at the bottom of the hill, but occasionally one gets lost and ends up in the little reserve opposite my house.

3. Shrimp on the barbie was only EVER in that advertising campaign. We call them prawns - but yes the barbecue is the barbie.

4. Can't dispute the rest, including what other people have mentioned in the comments. 😂

My paternal grandfather had a pen pal in Australia and they'd met through belonging to muzzleloader shooting clubs. At one point his pen pal had sent him a drawstring bag for holding shot (lead balls) made out of kangaroo skin. This unprompted lore drop was just so I could tell you when I hear Australia, the first thing I think of is "kangaroo ball bag," without it being too weird. Lol.

(The next things would be sharks, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the ginger beer that sometimes shows up at the discount grocery, and the weird licorice they used to make me try to push at one of old jobs.)
