What holiday traditions or annual rituals are the most important to you?

When we were 17 years old , my hubby lost his dad in a bad accident, on Thanksgiving Day. When we married soon after that, he told me we were going to host everyone for Thanksgiving dinner. He thought it would be good for him to stay busy. He was right. That was 56 years ago. We’ve never missed a Thanksgiving holiday since.

For Christmas we cook, but it’s all Mexican food. The kids all seem to love it.

I'm glad your husband found comfort in a time of need, and I love that he turned it into a longstanding tradition.

It really helped him. And he and my dad were very close. He told me when my dad passed, that it was horrible losing both dads. I felt badly for him.
