Our son Tom.

Every weekend,our son Tom comes over and does things around the house to help me out. Today it was something simple like picking up dog poop. Then he fixed my computer in the office because it had bit the dust. He said it was a quick fix. :) (For him,not us) My right side continues to grow weaker as time goes on while I wait to see the doctor, so he helps me with everything. Dishes, dinner, loading the dishwasher,doing laundry and anything else that comes up. He's a very nice young man. (Well, not that young anymore, he's 38.) Tomorrow he is going shopping with me and doing all of the lifting part. Now here is the odd part. He used to be a drug addict. (I guess he always will be) He has completely turned his life around. We didn't see him for 12 years. It was as if he was dead. Those were a hard and sad 12 years. So, now it's almost like he's trying to make up for lost time. I'm not complaining. He's a full time student in college and works part time to support himself. It's like having another person around here and we sure like him. We don't know what turned his life around, but we don't really care. He's in our life now and that's all that matters. We're all making up for lost time. Today he was painting a little piece of mountain scape with Samantha and he was going to throw this out. I told him to sign it and I was having it framed. He said it was crap. Artists! They are such perfectionists. It was really nice and simple, just the way I wanted it. So now Ihave two to frame and put on my bedroom walls. Did I mention he also tattoos in his spare time? He's so very talented, it's amazing. A tattoo shop in Tucson has contacted him and want to give him a spot to do his thing at their store. He's thinking about it. It'll depend on how much they would take out for their portion. He was very flattered that they knew who he was and how good he is. Their words,not his. So basically, it's true. A person can change,no matter what. And I thank God every day that he came around. We're very proud of him. :)

That's so great that he's there to help and give you the gift of his art, too.

I hope once you go to the doctor they can give you some meds to help slow/improve the weakness. I have another friend with MS and she's had it for years. She's on meds that have stopped it almost completely. She's doing very well. So, there are treatments that work.

Big hugs babe - I think of you every day, and I've got my fingers crossed that you'll see the doctor soon and start to get some answers/medication.

And what a lovely story about your son. A similar thing has happened with a friend of mine - son on heroin for years, and then for some reason he just stopped, hauled himself up, and now he's a successful stand-up comic would you believe! The human spirit is so amazing.

Congratulations to Tom for turning his life around. I really hope things go well for him. And yes, it is impressive that the tattoo shop know of him and his work!

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling so good. I hope the specialist can help. ::hugs gently:: Just make sure you've got plenty of support to avoid falling. You really don't need that extra stress (not that you need me to tell you that).

I have a friend that has it too. And she's doing well on the meds. If I could just get in to the doctors office, I would have it made. First the doctor has to read all of my info and then decide when he'll see me. Very strange, to me. BUt what do I know?

Oh how wonderful for your friend. It's so horrible to lose your child to drugs. I don't mean, die, I mean, lost in drugs. I'm happy for her and I'm happy for me too.

I'm sure once I get into the doctor, I will be fine. It's just getting there. LOL

Yes, even Tom is impressed with himself. He's doing so well. I thank God every day for a second chance for all of us.

I wish I could paint like that too, Sheila. And he just sits and does it quick like. If he really put time and effort into it, it would be gorgeous. He's painting everyone pictures for Christmas. WE're all excited.

My father told me once that I would still be his little girl even if I was 90. Guess that must be true for all parents. Glad you have him back, and have help while you aren't feeling well. Back during my most recent medical downswing, when they were sure I had MS to go with my CP a few years ago, I had what sounds like many of the same issues, and I don't think I would have managed much of any household stuff on my own. Thank goodness for my Chandi and my friends and other family.

I hope you get to see your doctors soon. I know all about how frustrating that can be. Currently, I have a family doctor, a physiatrist, a neurologist, a rheumatologist and a orthopedic surgeon, but getting them all was a long, convoluted and confusing process. Here's hoping they approve and see you soon, and then are whole bucketfuls of helpful, post haste!

I'm still waiting for an appointment because the other doctor wasn't on our plan. *sigh* They should be calling me this week. Hope it's with an appointment. I hope, I hope, I hope.
