Sam got tripped at recess today and when she fell she had something in her arms, so she was slow to put them out to stop the fall. She fell flat on her forehead, chin, nose, lip and her arms and knees are all scraped up like crazy. Her nose is all swollen and black and blue. It took the office twenty minutes to get the bleeding stopped, but then she was fine after that. She had no headache, no anything so we came home and I watched her all afternoon and night. This happened at 10 this morning. I called her doctors office and they said to keep her home an extra day to watch her just to be sure she's all right. I just gave her Tylenol and another ice pack and it looks like she's getting black eyes. *sigh* Poor thing. She loved it because I let her eat ice cream for lunch and dinner and dessert. LOL Her poor lip is huge and there was a pebble stuck inside her lip. The teacher told me she was so impressed, Sam didn't even cry when it happened. Two of her friends did. LOL They were so upset with the blood. Sam told me that she knew she had to stay brave for her friends. Just letting you know what a trooper she is.

Oh, poor Sam! That had to be quite a shock to her system (and to you!) And yes, definitely keep her at home an extra day, even two to be on the safe side.

She's doing great today, Sheila. Bouncing around and singing and so on. The only thing she's complained about today is the fact that she can't go to drama class tonight after school. She loves the drama club.

Tell Sam same thing happened to me twice! The first time I hit the back of my dad's car and gave myself a concussion. The second time I broke my arm! Tell her she's a true blue tough girl and a real trouper. She must be part Aussie to be so tough and brave. I'm as proud of her as you are. Give her a gentle koala hug from me xxxxx

Patt, did she break her nose? I hope she's better soon. And she probably has a lot of street cred for being so brave!

No, she didn't break her nose. Thank God. The teacher said she was so brave that all of the adults were amazed. She's a trouper.

OMG, that's awful. I hope she's okay. Kids are pretty resilient, but it's still scary when things like that happen.

{{{Hugs}}} to Sam for being so brave. I know those kind of falls make you hurt more during the next day or two. Ice cream is a great pain reliever!!

She's eating a salad right now, followed by ice cream. LOL She's so bored today, she missed her class. She is doing really well, much quicker than I would have. LOL

I just did. She said thank you. :) She's busy eating. Now I've got to go and watch her while she does cartwheels. Our living room is very large.

Oh yikes! Poor Sam! I'm so glad everything is superficial and she wasn't severely hurt. I love that she kept a stiff upper lip while her friends were the ones that fell apart. :-)

She's a trouper all right. :) Or is it trooper. LOL My mind is like blank tonight. I hate getting old. She is doing very well today and is so happy to be going back to school tomorrow.

That's great! So many children don't like school, it's nice to hear of one that does. I'm glad she's feeling better.

Oh, ouch! Poor Sam! I know she's being really brave about it, but what a shock for her. It sounds like a particularly nasty fall too.

*sends gentle hugs to Sam and Patt* I hope Sam heals up quickly.

She just carried on like it never happened. Kids are like that. Adults aren't. We could learn from them I guess. :)
