Well, we had the party and it went well...

We had the New Life Party for Samantha and she had tons of family and friends surrounding her for three hours at the park. She loved it. We had chips and dips and then of course cake. I asked people not to bring gifts and most of them didn't, but a couple did. It wasn't to get presents, it was to celebrate Sam's new life and her standing in our family. The cake she chose is darling. She picked out this picture of her favorite thing which is owls and showed it to me. There's a dad owl, a mom owl and a baby owl in the picture. She said it was us. So I took the picture down to Safeway and they have a machine that paints it onto the cake. It turned out beautifully. Check it out.



Now, we're just looking forward to Christmas and starting the New Year. We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. You've all helped me through all of this and I owe part of the success to y'all.

I think it's great that you're having a celebration for her new life. I've never heard of that kind of party, but it's a marvelous idea.

It was her idea. she wanted everyone to know that we were her Guardians. She's quite proud of that. She had a very good time.

Glad everything went well. With luck that'll give Sam a feeling of real security - she's probably been feeling just a touch insecure until those papers were signed, right?

WE signed on the 1st of December and on the 2nd, she asked if I was taking the paperwork to her school so they would know not to contact anyone else but us. This meant more than a lot of things. She's very calm about things now. She has a trip with school people coming up and for the first time she's not scared anymore. Now she knows we're not leaving her while she's gone and she's just dandy about it.

We focused on Sam this year, not us. Rod and I get what we need during the year. We don't need a holiday for that. :) I seem to be addicted to shopping online. LOL We're going to have a perfect Christmas. Thank you for your kind words. :)
