French Toast Bake (It's an ideal breakfast for Christmas morning. Easy, too. Prepare the night before and pop in the oven Christmas morning.)

1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)
1 cup brown sugar
1 loaf of thickly sliced bread (they mean really thick)
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Powdered sugar for sprinkling
cinnamon for sprinkling

Melt butter in Microwave and add brown sugar... Stir until mixed.
Pour butter/sugar mix into bottom of 9x13 pan-spread around.
Beat eggs, milk and vanilla
Lay single slices of bread in pan
Spoon 1/2 of egg mixture on bread layer.
Add 2nd layer of sliced bread.
Spoon on remaining egg mixture
Cover and chill in fridge overnight.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes, leaving it covered for the first 30 minutes.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Serve with warm maple syrup.

PS: I just made mine up for the night and it was so easy it was almost embarrassing. I thought it seemed dry, but we'll see tomorrow. I hope someone else tries this too. :)

My daughter gave it to me and said, "Everyone will think you're a super cook when they taste it." LOL So I'm making it tonight. My first time making it. Hope its as good as they all say.

Thank you so much! It's absolutely nothing like the way I make French toast, so I'm dying to try it. Bless you for taking the time to type it all out - you're such a sweetheart - I may have said that a few times before! ♥

We had it this morning. Very odd. But it was good. Just really different. :) It was so sweet with the bottom that we didn't use syrup. Just ate it like it was with butter. Samantha had two friends over and it was a hit with them. How exciting. I love trying new things. But I think I prefer just plain French toast better. :)
