I was a little blue.

Yesterday would have been my dad's 91st birthday and I miss him so much. It's also my brother's birthdays. The twins always shared that day with him and they get a little blue on that day now too. I'm sure it gets easier, but we decided that easier hasn't hit us yet.




Oh my gosh, I just noticed something about this picture. Dad has the same shirt on in both pictures. They were about 20 years apart from one another. LOL He saved his shirts forever. Loved when they were worn and soft. Oh my gosh, this post means even more now. We used to buy him tons of new shirts and he never wore them. Said they weren't soft enough. Mom started washing them every week to soften them up and then he would wear them. He was so funny.

Thank you for the hugs. It's not like you don' tmiss them all the time, but certain days feel worse than others. Lisa, Duncan's Twin got a carrot cake recipe from my dad and she said that while we're in San Antonio together we're making it. She said we'll have a dad day. :) Is that cute, or what? My dad made the best carrot cake in the world. His recipe rocks.

It does get easier, though it takes time. The traditional period of mourning was a year - it got the first time of all the 'important days' over; but when someone else in the family has the same birthday, that does keep the memory very fresh. (((hugs)))

Clothes - I like his attitude. I've got things I wear regularly that I've had for at least thirty years, and one or two things (like a good jacket) that I've had for at least forty and only wear maybe once a year. If they're comfortable and in good nick, what's the point in wasting money buying something new?

That's exactly what he said, Sheila. But I think it probably had something to do with growing up poor too. You get used to making the best of something. At any rate, he loved that shirt. :)

That is a lovely quirk of your dad's. The bit where you noticed your dad was wearing the same shirt in your icon and the photo, is so sweet. I teared up a bit at it.
