No, I hadn't seen it, but it doesn't surprise me. For all the lip service people give to stopping the bullying, it's rampant in our schools and society in general. It's a horrible thing.

So sad. Though there will always be bullies. There have been throughout history.

Not only do we need to curb such before, but we need to work on the esteem and coping skills of our young people. So they may have a stronger sense of self worth.

Our grand-daughter, Samantha is 9 and she has lived with us since she was barely 2. And we have tried to teach her this, but she has been very lucky. No one has bullied her, ever. But, she has seen it happen and she always helps the person that is bullied. Even though sometimes then they pick on you. The school she goes to is really strict about bullying, so hopefully she'll never have to deal with it. We can hope. But she has great self-esteem and coping skills, so I think she would be all right, anyhow.

I was overweight all my life. Kids are cruel. I was bullied and teased, but I had wonderful parents. One coping skill I was taught was to act as though it didn't bother me. Ignore the bullying. And in most cases it worked with an end result of making some great friends.

I think this was why I also enjoyed teaching and worked with such students.

I seriously don't think you will ever eliminate bullying. It is a characteristic that some of the strongest personas have. And it may be that in such cases the best defense is an offense.
