I love Christmas stories and winter stories, so I find myself looking so forward to all of this coming up. I've even started some ideas, although they aren't coming as quickly as they used to. I even finished a sweet story for the extravaganza and can't wait for that. It's something like I've never done before, so not sure how it'll work out or not. I've done some artwork, but don't know what the prompts are yet, so waiting on those. I just know it's going to be great fun. After spending some time with my mom, it'll be a nice break when I get home and can dig into things. I'm not going to have my laptop with me in New Mexico, because there is too much going on and I won't have time. But, I have my Kindle HD. Better than nothing. AT least I can check my email and check the live journals and stuff like that. I'm going to miss you all. Be well and have a good 18 days. :)

Hugs, Patt

Thanks, Grey. I'm looking forward to seeing mom and hoping that she's not as bad as the doctor thinks. She says she feels great. They told my dad six months and he lived two and a half years. So, they don't always know.

You can't go by doctors. They gave my mom 6 months after her diagnosis of breast and lung cancer in '01 and she didn't leave us until May of '05. She had a lot of good months that we never expected.

My mom has a bad heart. The pacemaker is doing the trick but they had to do something to the pacemaker and my moms heart stopped. They had to revive her. He said its the only think keeping her alive. In that case, don't turn it off again. When I talk to mom, she says she feels great for 89. So, who knows? I'm glad your mom was able to be with you as long as she was. Was she older, or younger? See, my mom is 89, so it's not like it would be a total shock if she left us. She did say she's ready to join dad whenever the good Lord calls for her.

My mom was only 66 when she was diagnosed, so she died when she was 71.

She was still young. I'm so sorry that she wasn't with you longer, but I'm sure you made the time she had left count. That's what we tried to do with Dad, too. That last year that dad was alive, I went six times to see him. I knew that was going to be his last year and I made the time. I'm glad I did.

Did I ever tell you about the crystal block that my brother Dan had made of my dad inside? It's a 3D carving into the crystal block. So when you set it on this holder, it turns different colors and you see dad with his dog, Oscar in 3D. Anyhow, I showed it to Jayla, our great-grand-daughter and she said, "Great, great Grandpa is dead now?" And I told her yes and she said, "And they put him in there?"

Is that funny? That's how real this looks, it's like looking at my dad and his dog Oscar. She just couldn't understand how they got him in there. Nice memory for us. I turn my block on once a week and just stare at dad. It's so cool. At first it made me sad, but it doesn't anymore.

Little ones sure can make us smile.

It's great when you can spend time with your loved ones no matter when it is.
