Today was a horrible day for my mother and I just want to scream. But I hope tomorrow will be a better one. Tomorrow we find out about Dad's radiation treatment and what the prognosis is. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying like crazy. My brother and I think he might have a slight case of pneumonia. He's rattling in his chest. WE hope we're wrong. Like he would need that. Hopefully I will have better news to post tomorrow.

Be well, everyone.

So hard to see our parents grow fragile and frail. I lost my Dad twenty-four years ago when he wasn't much older than I am now. But Mom has just turned 83 and the eighties haven't been easy years for her or her husband, who has absolutely no short term memory anymore. Sometimes, I think the best we can hope for at this stage of life is to share as much fun and laughter with them as possible, let them know they are well loved, and hope they stay as well as possible until it's time for them to go ... and then to hope it's as swift and painfree as possible.

You're so right that growing old isn't for wimps, whether them or us. ::hugs::

Yes, it is. But she still sees humor in the littlest things and makes me smile, so I should not complain.

I'm sorry to hear your Mom had such a bad day. Here's hoping you get good news about your Dad, and also that it isn't pneumonia.

*hugs*

Fingers crossed it's nothing serious.

My father went very quickly - fit and healthy, at 79 he went between one breath and the next. My mother, on the other hand, was 89, had five weeks in hospital and was unconscious during the fifth week... From that, I know that although it's more of a shock, fast is the best way to lose them. (((hugs)))

I pray that they will go fast too. They deserve it. Thanks for the hugs.

I'm sorry your Mum's having such a bad time. I hope things improve for her. I can't imagine the stress about your Dad is helping either. ::sends hugs::

THankyou for the hugs. She had a much better day today. WE're just going to have to take them one day at a time. Not all days can be good.
