and they put a rod in her leg and ankle. Isn't that exciting? NOT. She was in surgery for 2 and a half hours. I was at the hospital from 11:00 a.m. till 11:00 p.m. It was a long day, but not as tough as Shannon had it. All she did was fall off of her Mule. The shoe, I mean. And she broke her ankle in three places and her shin bone in two places. WE're wondering if she has weak bones or something. Very strange to say the least. So I'm going to be taking care of Samantha, her three year old for the next week or so while she tries to get better. At least there is no cast to mess with. Just a really sore leg. Life is never dull around her.

Oh I almost forgot. She had four paramedics here for almost an hour and they were all really good looking, so I teased her that she did it on purpose so that men would be all over her. LOL She even laughed at that.

Talk to you all later.

Have a good weekend.

Hugs, Patt

Definitely exciting in the wrong way, Patt. Hope that she's feeling better now and heals well, and that the adrenalin rush has worn off for the rest of you.

The only thing that came out of it making Shannon smile was how good looking the paramedics were. LOL Gotta love that about her. She's doing really well and they hope to kick her out of the hospital tomorrow if she continues to do this well.

God, how sad is it when a person falls off her shoe? I'm sure sorry she broke bones and such and is having such a rough time. It's a good thing she's got you for back up.

Take care.

Hi Grey. Thanks for the good thoughts. She needs all she can get. She's doing really well and the doctor thinks he might kick her out tomorrow if she keeps it up. She putting weight on the leg and ankle and everything. Doing really well.

Patt, so sorry to hear about your daughter's injury! And ankles can take a while to heal ... and will definitely need physiotherapy afterward. She may have osteoporosis, though I'd think she'd be a bit young for that. Ankles are tricky -- land on them the wrong way and they and the leg bones really don't like it. I had a friend who broke her ankle and both bones in her leg, too, just from twisting the ankle a little as she fell on some black ice.

Hopefully, it's not osteo ... regardless, it's definitely bad luck. I know you'll enjoy having Samantha; just take care that she doesn't wear you out!

Thank you for the good thoughts, Marilyn. How are you feeling? I hear that you're doing really well, is this just gossip? LOL Seriously, I hope you're healing as well as possible and back to your old self soon. Minus the pain.

Any mother hates to see their children get hurt and it doesn't matter how old they are either. :( Thank you for the kind thoughts.

Thank you, they're talking about letting her out tomorrow if all goes well. Fingers crossed. It's been hard on Samantha. She just doesn't understand what a broken bone is. :(

Oh dear! I've often joked about falling off high heels and breaking a leg but it's really not funny at all. I hope your daughter mends quickly and that you can enjoy your time with your granddaughter.

They live with us right now, so it's not really that different, but Shannon does most of the work taking care of Samantha and now that will have to change some. :) Oh well, life goes on, right? And at least she's all right.

The doctor told her that it's happened to many women wearing those Mules, so she's not going to anymore. Go figure. LOL And she's coming along rather well. She hates having people doing what she used to do, but she can't get around well just yet. Slow but sure.
Hugs, Patt
