“Come on, Jim, it’s not going to be that bad. WE need to keep testing your senses so that we stay on top of them.”
“But I hate these ones, Chief. You always give me weird things to taste.”
“They might be weird, but you guess them just the same. That’s the important thing. Can you smell what I’m going to give you to taste for flavor?”
“It almost smells like a fermented cucumber. Please tell me I’m not going to have to eat that.” Jim begged.
“Try this and tell me what it is.” Blair put something into Jim’s mouth and Jim chewed it up and stared blankly at Blair.
“What the hell?” Jim finally said.
“Do you give up?”
“It's buttermilk dip on a dill pickle and deep fried in olive oil. Who the hell would want to eat these on purpose?”
“So you don’t like it?” Blair asked.
“No, I think it’s weird. That’s the only thing you’re going to give me?”
“Are you complaining? I just wanted to see if you could tell me what it was.” Blair teased.
“I don’t want to have to eat them again, okay?”
“All right. A friend gave me the recipe and I had to see if you could tell what it was. You guessed everything. You haven’t lost it, big guy.”
“You’re going to lose something if you make me eat them again. Now what is really for dinner?”
