Things I'm Grateful For:

Gosh, this could take all night. 😂 I'll list the first thing I'm grateful for. That would be my father, a chef who taught me to cook and bake every Sunday night from when I was 11 until I was 18. He gave me his first cookbook when I got married and moved out of our home. I still have it, and still use it for many things. Once we got a house we had Sunday dinners at our place, unless we took the meal to my mom and dad's house and cooked it there. My folks were thrilled to have Sundays off. But I had to really learn to make smaller meals for us alone. On Sundays, I made dinner for 11 of us. That's what happens when you have six brothers and a sister, plus your parents.

I'm grateful to my Granny, Peepaw and elders in my life for teaching me how to cook. (Not my mother, she couldn't cook, but she set down the rule to never turn your nose to food until you have tried it. Except if it contained obvious allergens.) I and my youngest are the only 2 who were patient enough to learn the family recipes.

It's nice to know how to cook, isn't it? That's nice that two of your kids learned to cook. My middle child is an even better cook than I am.

One thing I am grateful for is fandom - I mean, where else can you slip in quietly and meet such wonderful people? People who are welcoming, have similar interests, are friendly, and who write with such good grammar? It was a pleasure to meet you during Snowflake this year.

How wonderful to have a chef in the family! You must have learned so much!

I did. He was wonderful. And all six of my brothers do all the cooking at their homes. My sister cooks also.
