28. Have you ever played a kazoo?

Thankfully no. I guess I could have said I did but you would know I was full of it. Does anyone know anyone who has ever played one? It would be interesting if we said yes. Dang it, I know of no one.

Oh yes, they were all the rage when I was little. Funny, squeaky things. I think many of them came out of Christmas crackers.

You aren't missing much, they are just plastic toys you get in Christmas crackers. I'm not sure they're even proper musical instruments.😜

They are pretty annoying if you get a lot of kids playing them at once 😅They remind me of the 1970s, when everyone got excited about simple things like kazoos.

Count me in the generation that got kazoos as party favors. I'm sure I still have a few lying around even decades later. Like toy harmonicas and plastic recorders, both of which we also seemed to have at every birthday party, we were told they were musical instruments but without instruction they were mostly noisemakers. Occasionally someone would surprise everyone by playing something recognizable on them and we would marvel.

I was part of the generation where they were everywhere- party favors, cheap festival prizes, dentist prize boxes, etc. Also, some kids science show I used to watch showed us how to make our own kazoos (if I remember right, it was basically just using wax paper to make the same noise).

Fun fact, depending on construction, you can break your kazoo by blowing into it too hard.
