When I discovered slash fan fiction, I read everything and wrote a little of everything. I’ve been in fandom 30+ years. And in that time I went from loving and writing steamy sex scenes to enjoying fade to black stories instead. 😂. Isn’t it funny how you change? So, you do change over the years.

I'm finding I have the same reaction, Patt. I have no desire to read or write the sex scenes. (unless maybe tentacles are involved? 0:-) )

Same here! I used to regularly write explicit fic. Then when I started writing again after many years hiatus, I now find I'm just not into it anymore. I think it's because I feel like there's just so many ways you can describe the same physical acts, and I've run out of fresh ideas. 😉

I never did like PWP, though; in reading and writing, the sex scenes need to further the plot and/or the development of the relationship.

Another ME TOO! I used to write explicit scenes far more often but now prefer leaving it as fade-to-black, and even when reading other writer's works, I will skip those scenes for the most part. I was never keen on PWP.

Same here. I'm not saying I never right sex scenes, but it's rare these days. Even when I read my own fic, I skip over the sex scenes now. It's very strange how much that has changed over the years.

But I have no problem reading yours. They’re very gentle scenes filled with love.

I've never been good at writing steamy sex scenes, so I always kinda admired those who could. Most of the time I tend to leave that stuff alluded to instead. Don't think I've changed with that over time, though.

You know, I've found that to be true of me, too. I used to read everything, and now if something is super spicy I just skip past it. Although, I do sometimes still write it. A lot depends on who is writing it for me on whether or not I actually read it.

I go back and forth, and usually in bunches. Like I'll want All. The. Pornz. Then after a few stories, I'm good and will seek out F2B or gen... until I wantz it, needz it and then again, tooooooo much. It's a sickness really.
