I have a cyst that is abscessed on the back of my head and it's quite painful when I sleep. Anyhow, the doctor said he's going to take it out and they'll do biopsy on it. Then they'll clean it out, close it and hope that will do the trick. I've had this since December. I didn't know what it was, or how ugly it looked. Doesn't that sound fun? Not. They set it up for April 15th. How fun. Oh well, at least they'll take care of it. And I have great insurance, so won't have to pay anything out of pocket. It'll be done in an operating room at the nearby hospital. I thought that sounded excessive, but he assured me this is how they do it. Wish me luck.

My sister had a cyst on her scalp that got quite large before she finally went to the doctor to have it removed. They did the surgery as outpatient and she came home with some stitches. It was luckily benign, but it did leave a crater in her scalp that took a while to fill in and for the hair to grow back. The bandage right after the surgery was larger than she expected, but it did heal and she was glad it was gone. She had the same issue of it being painful when she touched it.
